Associate Professor of Historical Archaeology



Coastal Carolina University is seeking an Associate Professor of Historical Archaeology to begin 16 August 2009.

Applicants should be broadly trained in archaeology, with a primary research focus on the Southeastern United States. The position will be appointed with tenure in the Department of History. The appointment will carry a half-time teaching load comprised of entry level and upper level courses in archaeology, and new courses in the appointee's area(s) of interest. In conjunction with the Waccamaw Center for Historical and Cultural Studies, the position will be charged with building and coordinating a new interdisciplinary program aimed at furthering knowledge of our region through innovative research and pedagogy. The successful applicant must hold an earned Ph.D. in an appropriate field at the time of employment. A strong record of scholarly activity and evidence of good teaching are expected. Salary is nationally competitive. Teaching assignments may include evening/weekend courses and courses taught at off-campus sites.
