Archaeological Finds Specialist

An enthusiastic and knowledgeable artefact specialist is required to co-ordinate finds work programme and undertake general cataloguing, analysis and reporting of a wide range of artefact types to assessment level and beyond. The successful candidate will have specific and in-depth specialist knowledge of one or more common artefact class, broad archaeological experience, the majority in finds work, proven publication record and excellent communication and team working skills.

Job Purpose:

  • Specialist finds assessment, analysis and reporting.
  • Co-ordination of finds work & liaison with external specialists.
  • Participation in finds processing, storage and archiving tasks.
  • Guidance and training to other FAU staff.
  • Promotion of the work of FAU to professional bodies and the public.

Experience required:

Solid archaeological experience is required, the majority in finds work. Proven publication record. Excellent communication and team working skills.
