Senior Heritage Consultant
We wish to expand our Built Heritage Team by appointing a Senior Heritage Consultant; and are looking for a commercially aware, talented and motivated individual to provide solid and consistent advice to our clients. You will have a number of varied responsibilities including consultancy advice to clients, costing, organising, managing and delivering heritage statements, conservation management plans, Environmental Impact Assessments and other built heritage projects. Your work will need to be able to withstand the test of a Public Inquiry.
Working as part of a highly experienced and professional team you will be expected to provide general planning advice to clients; work on / manage a range of schemes, and develop client relationships. Providing high-quality support to more senior members of the team will also be expected.
The successful candidate will have a first degree in historic conservation, or a closely related discipline, and a post-graduate qualification in historic conservation. The successful candidate will also have a demonstrable understanding of architectural history and heritage policy context, excellent research skills, astute commercial awareness, and a commitment to providing advice and producing reports that are analytically rigorous, creative and persuasive. Working collaboratively with colleagues, thinking strategically about the wider project context, building good client relationships, and timely delivery of work, are also crucial attributes. Our projects are spread across the country and the role will involve travel around the UK, therefore a full driving licence and a car are essential.
Management experience and the capacity to contribute to business development will be an advantage. Membership of the IHBC and other professional bodies is desirable. This position would preferably be based in Retford but other office locations considered for the right candidate (Norwich, Colchester, York)
We are also looking to recruit a consultant to assist with both archaeological and built heritage projects. The role will primarily involve research for the preparation of archaeological desk-based assessments, heritage statements and Environmental Impact Assessments, the preparation of clear, well-written text for technical reports.
We are seeking strong technical skills, along with excellent report writing ability. You will have a first degree in archaeology and a post-graduate qualification in built heritage (or vice versa) and a broad understanding of British archaeology and/or built heritage. Ideally you will have had some professional experience, however, applications from talented graduates will be seriously considered.
The role will involve travel around the UK, therefore a full driving licence and a car are essential. Membership of the CIfA/IHBC are desirable
This position would be based in Retford.
