North York Moors National Park Authority
£27.4k- £30.5k pa with potential progression to £34k
This is a fantastic time to lead archaeological work in the North York Moors. We have one of the highest densities of Scheduled Monuments in England and 1000s of other non-designated sites covering the period from the end of the last ice age all the way through to military remains from the 20th Century.
Other highlights include: two active HLF Landscape Partnership Schemes both of which have exciting cultural heritage elements; delivering our third Historic England funded MMS which has showcased best practice approaches to getting monuments off the Risk Register while working closely with volunteers and land managers. We also have a new Business Plan with exciting plans for engaging people with our wonderful cultural heritage.
Following the retirement of our Senior Archaeologist, we are looking for a new person to help us drive forward this area of work. You'll need to have:
You'll find that you are working with skilled, dedicated and supportive colleagues; and there will be chance to take advantage of our excellent personal development and flexible working opportunities.
The National Park and surrounding area is a superb place to live and work with excellent schools and good access to main transportation links. The post is based at the Authority's Headquarters in the attractive town of Helmsley (market town of the year 2016).
Please feel free to give David Renwick, our Director of Conservation, a call for an informal discussion on 01439 772700.
