The salary range will either be Grade 8 (Lecturer): £37,382 - £44,607 per annum or Grade 9 (Senior Lecturer): £48,729 - £53,233 per annum. Paid locally in Qatari Riyals + generous package. The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Islamic Archaeology is one of the key appointments at UCL Qatar. The post holder will be expected to play a major role in developing and delivering the Postgraduate teaching and research programme in Islamic Archaeology for UCL Qatar, in collaboration with other staff. The post holder will be leading, conducting and publishing research relating to Islamic archaeology of the highest standards and wide international impact, as well as contributing to the development of UCL Qatar's wider research and teaching strategies in this area, and potentially opening new lines of research and teaching, based on their own expertise. It is also expected that the post holder will play a role in other teaching duties, such as contributing to general study skills courses. The post holder will also take on the (co-)supervision of a number of existing or forthcoming PhD and MA theses on Islamic Archaeology, while generally providing academic leadership and offering advice to colleagues, students and academic visitors in the field of Islamic archaeology. The position is suitable for high-calibre entry-level as well as for experienced applicants. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Islamic Archaeology or related subject. The appointee should have an independent research reputation, with evidence of international recognition of achievement within Islamic archaeology as appropriate for the level of appointment. The candidate will show evidence of significant completed research, which has been published or is likely to be published soon, with a suitable publication record sufficient for inclusion in the forthcoming REF process, as well as evidence of relevant knowledge transfer/exchange and/or public engagement activities.
