Senior Ecologist Birmingham £35K Circa
Owing to an increasing demand for ecological services and as a profession, our client has formed a dedicated Ecological Service Line. The newly appointed Director of Ecology, has already established fully operational teams from other offices and plans to develop more similar teams Nationwide across the UK, as well as forming links with their European based ecological services. Growing demand for ecological work amongst their existing client base together with the opportunity of working closely with the various internal teams within the organisation sets them in a clear position to considerably expand this service line over the next 2 years.
This is an exciting opportunity in this expansion of the ecology group in the Midlands, to be based from the Birmingham office.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting senior staff in the delivery and management of projects. - Organising and carrying out desk and field based ecological habitat and species surveys. - Maintaining data and records, and carrying out data analysis. - Undertaking consultation especially with statutory agencies - Providing concise and detailed reports to internal teams and external clients. - Managing field survey teams Requirements
- A good relevant degree in biological sciences. - Full member of IEEM or similar relevant professional body. - Significant experience within a consultancy organisation and/or professional ecological organisation. - Good organisation skills and experience of project management. - Good presentation and communication skills. - Excellent data analysis and technical writing skills. - Numerate and IT literate in use of software and use and maintenance of digital recording equipment. - Wide practical experience of survey and recording techniques, and mitigation design. - Specialism and licence holder (eg mammal ecology and licence holder for bats and/or badgers). - Excellent field botany skills and/or protected species licence holder especially for bats and/or badgers would be a distinct advantage.
Remuneration offered:
Basic salary up to £35k.
