BBT has the largest dedicated Geotechnical and Environmental recruitment Division in the UK. We specialise in finding professionals at all levels for Consultancies, Contractors and public bodies across the UK

Job Description
Associate Environmental Economist
Cheshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire
Negotiable

This is a major environmental and engineering consultancy who operate across a national network of offices in the UK. Increasingly their work has become more economics led, as corporate clients are facing decisions which will have economic and financial implications for their business and the communities within which they operate.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a leading role within the Environmental Policy Team, developing and directing client projects in the public sector (European Commission, DEFRA, BERR, Environment Agency and others) and supporting corporate clients in their strategic response to climate change and significant regulatory developments.

You will ideally be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Economics or a relevant environmental subject, you will have a good understanding of the role of economics in the development of legislation and regulation; and the implications of these for corporate strategy and decision-making.

You will have experience in economic valuation of both market and non-market goods; economic analysis such as cost benefit and multi-criteria analysis; market-based instruments and assessing impacts on competition and competitiveness. Experience in econometric modelling and knowledge of some of the key current policies such as the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, the Water Framework Directive, or REACH, would be of particular value.
