Buildings Energy Manager Cambridge Up to £50,000 plus Car and Flexible Benefits Package
The Technical Manager will provide technical support in the growing business area of buildings energy and renewable energy as well as providing support to wider Climate Change Technical/Carbon Management activities. The role will cover all areas of building energy work particularly buildings display energy certification, project design, M&E and implementation.
This new role is a direct result of the success that the Climate Change team have achieved to date and it will support the anticipated growth in this area.
The role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of high profile clients and projects both in the private and public sector. Current projects include numerous building energy certificate projects, as well as regeneration and building projects
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS - Applicants are likely to hold an Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or environmental degree (or equivalent) with a buildings and/or energy focus. - This may be complimented by a post graduate degree or diploma in an appropriate discipline i.e. building services (mechanical electrical), building design or carbon management however this is not a pre-requisite. - Professional membership (i.e. chartered engineer) preferred. - BREEAM accreditation or membership of the CIBSE/EI or equivalent would be advantageous as well as competence with Building Regulations Compliance software (SAP, SBEM and DSM) and Energy Certificates (EPCs and DECs)
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- The ideal applicant will have considerable experience of working within a commercial/consulting environment. - Knowledge of M&E services and building energy modelling in one or more sectors is essential. - Will be familiar with aspects of process engineering. - Experience is required of working on energy/carbon management in relation to energy saving opportunity identification (HVAC, BMS, DHW, lighting, etc), carbon footprinting and implementation plans; - Knowledge of EPBD and in particular Energy Certificates - Specific knowledge should also include local and regional planning processes wrt energy assessment for residential and commercial developments, Buildings Regulations Compliance software, low carbon building design incorporating passive solar design and energy efficiency and sustainable energy assessments including CHP, community energy and renewable energy systems - Candidates will be required to demonstrate their depth and breadth of experience by demonstrating their expertise and track record in the involvement in renewable energy projects and show an understanding of planning process and barriers to renewables implementation
