Heritage Consultant

Our client currently provides cultural heritage input into a wide range of projects through Heritage Team in Birmingham and they are now keen to expand this team.

As a Heritage Consultant you would have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects including Environmental Impact Assessments, archaeological mitigation strategies, desk-based assessments, Conservation Plans, Heritage Lottery Fund bids, Conservation Area Appraisals, and tourism / cultural studies. You will be responsible for managing and delivering small-scale projects and key components of major projects for a range of client and places. You would be expected to work with designated project managers to develop innovative approaches to projects and to deliver complex projects to tight deadlines.

The role would include leading key elements of major projects, managing small projects and developing new approaches to problems facing cultural and natural places. As such you should be capable of working under your own initative, managing budgets and timetables, and have experience of working on multi-disciplinary projects. Experience in commercial consultancy is essential.

Requirements

Out Client is particularly seeking candidates with experience of EIA, DBA and archaeological work but additional experience in other areas would be an advantage. You would have the opportunity to broaden your skills into other fields as well as new projects that come on line.

You will have post-graduate experience with a significant period of this working in a commercial consultancy environment. You should have a professional and educational background in archaeology, at least to degree level, although candidates with a background in the historic built environment or heritage management would be considered if they can demonstrate experience of working with archaeological issues associated with development projects.
