Job Description
Environmental Project Manager
Peterborough
£25K – £35K

A post has arisen for an environmental project manager in the Peterborough office to supervise a small team of ecologists. You would be working with staff spread across the UK, working on a range of ecological projects derived from environmental design and management, planning, and ecological research; within the multi-disciplinary environment of an international resource consultancy.

The post requires the skills of an experienced consultant with strong project management and organisational skills and sufficient experience and career confidence to supervise and support more junior team members. Proven experience in environment/nature conservation/ecology, preferably within a consultancy, would be advantageous in support of a good first degree and membership of IEEM or IEMA.

Efficient time management and the ability to work to tight deadlines within a busy ecology team will be essential. Duties would also include financial budgeting and assisting with the creation of tender documents. Good writing and IT skills, especially in the use of GIS would also be advantageous.

Candidates should have a working knowledge and good understanding of wildlife legislation, planning policy and EcIA/and or EIA. For an applicant with an ecology background the anticipated technical competencies would ideally include competent field botanical skills - to enable a robust Phase 1 Habitat survey to be undertaken; along with an ecological specialism to a high standard. This may include protected species survey; or breeding and wintering bird surveys to enable a high standard of reporting in areas such as EcIA, EIA, BREEAM or EMS.
