Job Description
My Client has an exciting career opportunity for a Technical Director /
Consultant Arboriculturist. The consultancy business has three main product
streams: - Aviation; Tree Management Survey’s (TMS), Local Government Service’s
(LGS) and Planning. The vacancy is to take full responsibility for the Planning
product stream. The successful applicant will be hungry for a very demanding
challenge, results oriented and very commercial in their outlook.
Given the nature of the role the successful candidate will be expected to
travel around the UK in the course of their duties.
Key Accountabilities
- This role entails full accountability for the development of planning
products as well as full profit and loss accountability for the planning
revenue stream;
- Hands on management of technical resources, but managing projects through
structured project management procedures;
- Working closely with the national sales manager to grow the revenue stream
and revenue for repeat work;
- Training and development of technical employees to maximise their fee
earning potential and increase job satisfaction / motivation;
- Compliance to company procedures and development of the newly formed
central project and programme office.
Experience
- Highly developed arboricultural skills, but with particular experiences in
planning
- Substantial experience in a commercial environment, preferably with
project management experience;
- A proven track record of managing multi disciplined projects;
- A proven track record of meeting fee earning targets and developing client
retention;
Knowledge / Skills
- B.Tec HND Arb. as a minimum qualification, Prof. Dip. Arb or Foundation
Degree in Arb would be an advantage;
- Significant arboricultural experience within the private sector or a
mixture of public and private;
- A high level of technical skill and practical knowledge;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written);
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office suite, Digital Tree Data Collection
Software / GIS experience would be an advantage;
- Knowledge of the Town & Country Planning Act, familiar with BS 5837;
- Driving license.
