Arboricultural Surveyor £23000 - £28000

Job Specification:
My client is the UK’s largest provider of expert solutions and policy
advice on rural business and environmental issues. Due to continued
expansion they now require a consultant to work across the South East on
arboricultural surveying contracts, undertaking tree surveys and associated
data management.
The Role:
To work on arboricultural services contracts, carrying out tree surveys
and risk assessment using hand held data capture and GPS, assessing tree
work requirements and specifications to mitigate risk and providing advice
to the contract manager where required.
Technical Skills:
The successful candidate will hold a diploma or equivalent in
Arboriculture/Forestry and have knowledge and experience of tree surveying
techniques, risk/hazard assessment methodologies, tree physiology, pest and
diseases and arboricultural work practices.
The successful candidate will have the following attributes: -
Essential:
- At least a national diploma in Arboriculture /Forestry or equivalent
- Solid experience practical surveying/ reporting in the UK
- Good knowledge and experience of tree surveying techniques and
risk/hazard assessment methodologies
- A good knowledge of tree identification, tree physiology, pests and
diseases and arboricultural work practices
- A thorough understanding of the principles of Visual Tree Assessment
and of risk management and mitigation in relation to trees
- Able to specify work on individual or small groups of trees
- Good time management skills
- Numerate and proficient with MS Word and Excel
- Current valid driving licence
Desirable:
- Network Rail PTS or IWA
- Lantra Professional Tree Inspection certificate
- A degree or equivalent in Arboriculture/Forestry.
- Membership of a relevant professional body
- Practical experience of using GPS hand-held data capture systems and
GIS systems
