About the Role:
You will provide full technical support to the Design Manager in the
delivery of projects.
- BSc, BEng in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology or
Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Working towards CEng, CGeol or equivalent and/or MSc/MEng desirable
- Competent to produce factual and interpretative reports and
geotechnical design
- Competent to work unsupervised and to supervise others
- Ground investigation experience, particularly in rail, highly
desirable
Experience of MS Office, Project Planning software (e.g. P5/MS Office),
AutoCAD or Microstation and geotechnical software applications advantageous
(e.g. HoleBase, KeyHole, Slope-W, PC M-Pile or Piglet)
Responsibilities:
- Planning, Supervision & Management of Ground Investigations, logging
of soils and rocks, laboratory test scheduling
- Activity/Project Management
- Preparing & Checking Method Statements, Desk Study, Factual &
Interpretative Reports
- Preparation and/or checking of geotechnical designs - depending on
experience
- Assist in preparing tenders, technical work scopes, specifications and
project programmes
- Client and sub-contractor liaison
- Assist in marketing & business development
- Supervise and mentor more junior staff
About You:
- You will be a highly motivated individual who is a team player and has
a strong desire to provide a quality service to clients.
- You should be able to project manage effectively, with minimum
supervision, and have excellent organisational skills.
- A good level of post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering
is required, preferably within the rail and highways industries.
- You must have sound experience of ground investigations and laboratory
testing.
- Geotechnical design knowledge and application is preferable -
foundations, retaining walls and earthworks.
