Canada Research Chair in Multi-scale Climate and Environmental Change



The Department of Environmental Studies and Geography at Bishop's University in Sherbrooke, Quebec, invites applications for a Tier II Canada Research Chair (CRC) in the field of Climate and Environmental Change.

Applicants for this position should possess a strong research profile with the potential to emerge as an internationally recognized scholar, and a demonstrated ability to obtain external funding in a field directly related to Climate and/or Environmental Change, with an emphasis on physical processes. The appointment will be made in the Department of Environmental Studies and Geography. Cross-appointments to the new Environmental Sciences program may be possible. The appointee may be expected to contribute to the design and development of an interdisciplinary graduate program in Environmental Studies or Sciences.

We encourage applications from scientists with a background in physical geography, earth sciences, environmental studies/sciences, atmospheric sciences, or related fields, who can propose innovative research topics or approaches that, ideally, correspond to the national and provincial research priorities in this field. The successful candidate's expertise should complement existing research strengths within the Multi-scale Climate and Environmental Change research cluster (MUSCLE) and will demonstrate the potential to generate and lead large-scale projects that span interdisciplinary lines. Ability to seek funding with agencies such as NSERC, FQRNT or CFCAS is an asset. The successful candidate will have a reduced teaching load of one 3-hour course per semester.

Normally, the Tier II CRC competition is open to candidates who are within a maximum of ten years from their terminal degree at the time of nomination.
