W3 Professorship in Applied Meteorology



The School of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences invites applications for a W3 Professorship in Applied Meteorology, Ref. No. 2141/W3, commencing as soon as possible.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate research experience on an international level as well as a successful track record in procuring external project funding and managing externally funded projects. The University places particular value on the quality of teaching. We therefore request applicants provide details of both their teaching experience and their future teaching objectives.

Tasks and responsibilities: We are looking for a candidate with an internationally outstanding track record in teaching and research in the field of applied meteorology. The post holder will be expected to strengthen the Meteorological Institute's the existing research areas within the technical meteorology and expand and develop its research and teaching profiles as a whole. Candidates with international standing in either micro-scale / meso-scale meteorology, physical processes relating to clouds and aerosols, radiation and remote sensing, turbulence and dispersion, or air pollution meteorology are encouraged to apply. The post holder will beactively involved in shaping the bachelor's and master's programs in meteorology and the integrated climate systems sciences. S/he will be expected to participate in further developing the excellence cluster CliSAP.

Ideally, the successful applicant's research will complement and further develop current research at the Meteorological Institute. He / She will also be expected to maintain and expand national and international cooperations and apply for external funding. Requirements: Academic qualifications and further requirements as specified in §15 of the Hamburg Higher Education Law. Severely disabled applicants will receive preference over equally qualified non-disabled applicants.
