Responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may pursue independent research and further academic qualifications outside regular working hours.

Specific Duties

Earth System Reanalysis will develop a novel adjoint climate-assimilation framework and will apply it in a pilot setting over seasonal to interanual time scales for improving climate change information. As part of this efort, candidates will be involved in the advancement of an ESM coupled adjoint climate modeling and parameter optimization framework in the context of model improvements. Project results are intended to be used in the context of achieving a doctorate degree.

Requirements

A university degree in a relevant field.

M.Sc. in climate related fields, mathematics or physics. A background in either climate dynamics, climate modeling, data assimilation, or applied mathematics is highly desirable. Intention to achieve a doctorate degree as part of this work would be highly appreciated.
