Postdoctoral Research Position for Modeling of
Thunderstorm Electrification



Applications for a post-doctoral research associate are invited for study of thunderstorm electrification at the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics & Planetology (HIGP), University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM). The project is being organized jointly with the School of Earth and Environment (SEE) at University of Leeds (UL), UK. Lightning's dependence on diverse environmental conditions will be studied with a state-of-the-art model of aerosol-cloud interactions.

The appointment will be initially for one year, if performance is adequate. Potentially, it may be extended for a further year. Scientists with a strong background in development of atmospheric models, mathematics, and physical meteorology are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a PhD in meteorology or a related field as well as UNIX programming experience. Salary will be up to $60,000 per year.
