PhD positions in Urban climate at HKUST

Mphil/PhD positions in Urban Climate are available in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The prospective students will work on research topics including but not limited to extreme weather, tropical cyclone, air quality, building energy consumption and water resources. The work will rely on weather simulations and experience with modelling is thus advantageous. The research will be supervised by Professor Jiachuan Yang (http://cejcyang.people.ust.hk/), questions about the scope of the work can be addressed to (cejcyang@ust.hk).

PhD candidates should possess a Bachelor or Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Science or related disciplines. Good background with research experience in Fluid Mechanics or Climate Modeling is highly preferred. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently are required, and IELTS overall score > 6.5 (TOEFL-iBT > 80). The scholarship is ~17800 HKD per month.
