Regional Network Manager

£20,400 per annum up to £23,280 for exceptional candidates plus benefits
Nottingham area

About the role

Observations are fundamental to almost all the services that the Met Office provides. Our observations area forms a significant part of our business, comprising 10% of our workforce. The need for more observational data, and for new and innovative ways to meet customer requirements for data, is now bigger than ever. As Regional Network Manager, you'll play a key role here. Inspecting our observational sites, you'll know exactly what's happening at each location, ensuring first-class data is produced at all times. Building close relationships with the voluntary observers you're overseeing and partner organisations you'll work with, you'll provide all the technical advice and support they need. Proactive when it comes to installing or repairing equipment, as well as suggesting potential new observational sites, you're always looking for ways to improve the way we work.

About you

With a degree or equivalent in a Science or numerical subject, you have a sound technical understanding of observing systems. Experience in using GIS software would be a bonus. Self-motivated, proactive and hands-on, you're a true multi-tasker, happy to prioritise multiple demands while working on different projects at the same time. You're excellent at working under your own initiative and have first-class communication skills along with a talent for building relationships at all levels. With an ambitious and focused approach to your work, you're ready to take this opportunity to start a career with excellent progression opportunities in a unique and diverse organisation.

As you'll be needed all over central England, we'd like you to have a flexible attitude to travel and a full clean driving licence. We'll provide you with a vehicle, laptop and mobile phone.
