Make a difference with a career in weather forecasting
As one of the world's leading providers of environmental and weather-related services, our forecasts influence and inform individuals, businesses and the public sector every day. We deliver forecasting services in two broad work streams: to civil and commercial customers from our Operations centres in Exeter and Aberdeen, and to the MoD at a variety of stations as part of the UK defence network. We also directly support our forces overseas through our Mobile Met Unit as well as working with TV and the media so the variety is endless! Here is an exciting opportunity for you to join one of two training programmes, starting October 2008 and January 2009, where you will receive first class training at our College at Exeter HQ plus valuable on-the-job training. And once you've qualified, you'll join the team of highly skilled weather forecasters, delivering forecasts and services to customers in the UK and around the world, 24 hours a day 365 days a year. On your part, you'll need a GCE A Level or equivalent in physics plus a degree in meteorology, a physical science or maths (or be about to graduate). You'll also need to demonstrate the motivation and commitment to an intensive learning experience followed by at least 2 years working for us in operational forecasting delivery.
