The School of Earth Atmosphere and Environment (SEAE) is pleased to welcome applications from talented and ambitious scientists to fill a two-year research fellowship (Level A) in Atmospheric Science. You will work on improving Australia's next-generation dynamical seasonal prediction system, which is based on the state-of-the-art coupled atmosphere-ocean model developed by the UK Meteorological Office. You will undertake research into identifying the causes of systematic errors over the tropical Indian Ocean in the atmospheric model and into developing possible solutions. You will carry out independent research on diagnosing the model shortcomings, conducting appropriate sensitivity studies with the model and developing, implementing and testing model improvements. You will work closely in a cross-institutional team of scientists from Monash University and the Bureau of Meteorology.
You will conduct research of the highest international quality in a team of like-minded individuals. You will publish your results in world-leading journals and present them to your peers at major national and international conferences.
