Scientific Programmer (f/m)- SAS2009-10 -
The half-time position is located in the EU-FP7 project IS-ENES (http://is-enes.enes.org/).
The successful applicant will participate in the integration of the European Earth Sys-tem Modelling Infrastructure. Emphasis is on the description, development, and im-plementation of scientific workflows both in HPC and Grid environments.
M&D is seeking a scientific programmer with a degree in the field of Earth System sciences. Extensive experience with the handling of large and complex Earth System models and a strong inclination to implement advanced IT solutions is required, as well as working experience with the usual ESM environment software (FORTRAN, c(++), make, perl, Unix). Working experience with XML, Java and scripting lan-guages like Python as well as with software tools supporting scientific workflow de-velopments are welcome. As the position implies cooperation with European partners, strong social skills as well as good knowledge of the English language are required. Intensive travelling inside Europe may be necessary.
We offer a limited contract until February 28, 2013. Payment and social security benefits are according to a civil service position (TVÖD 13). The conditions of em-ployment, including upgrades and duration, follow the rules of the Max Planck Soci-ety for the Advancement of Sciences and those of the German civil service.
