Europe Flood Model Manager

Opportunity: RMS is seeking a model manager for our Europe region, particularly focused on flood modeling and risk assessment. The Model Management team is responsible for defining RMS’ model development agenda to meet market demand, ensuring commercial success of the models, as well as providing technical communications with our client base. Model Management serves as a vital link between the model developers and the clients in two ways: Gathering client feedback, defining the model scope based on client needs, then working with the development team to update the models and Taking updated models from development, producing relevant literature, presenting to clients, as well as providing ongoing support. The team also manages our global catastrophe response operations by providing information and modeling support to our client base when a major disaster occurs.

Essential job functions: Conduct market research and client meetings to develop a thorough familiarity with the insurance market, and its needs and uses of risk models, both current and future; Manage RMS’ model development agenda for flood modeling, prioritizing new models and upgrades to our existing risk models based on client feedback and market requirements. This will include preparing business cases and strategizing alongside the rest of RMS’ global development agenda; Define market requirements for model development projects once initiated. This will include defining the scope, resolution and the needs of each end-user group of each model; Manage client communications from start through the launch of the model development cycle and co-ordinate change management activities associated with version changes. This will involve preparing and giving presentations, publishing white papers, brochures and associated documentation at regular intervals; Lead our client communications for RMS’ real-time Catastrophe Response operations for Europe flood catastrophe events.

Required Skills: The ideal candidate will hold a higher degree in a meteorologically related discipline, natural science, engineering, or related field, combined with 2+ years experience in a risk consulting or problem solving environment. A high level of proficiency in data analysis and data manipulation software tools (Excel, Access, VBA, and SQL) and a working knowledge of GIS software applications is desirable.

You need to be a fast learner with strong organizational skills, combined with close attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. You also need to be a strong team player with a high-degree of self-motivation.
