Our client a leading international trading organisation requires Meteorologist for role in Dublin City Centre, Ireland

Role:

This is a superb opportunity for an individual with a meteorology/atmospheric science background to work within a true trading environment to assist in the development of energy trading business in Europe. The successful candidate will provide weather forecasting and climate data support to energy and commodity trading groups in Dublin.

Full training will be provided and it is likely that the successful candidate will spend a period of one to three months in our US headquarters in Philadelphia working with the US based commodity team and training with most experienced meteorologist. Some occasional future travel to conferences in Europe is also possible.

Qualifications:

• Minimum undergraduate degree in atmospheric science, meteorology or related field; preferable to have some post-graduate and/or research related work
• Operational forecasting course work or practical experience, preferable to have exposure to tropical forecasting
• A broad understanding of weather models and an ability to effectively communicate complicated data to fundamental analysts and commodity traders
• Ability to make short-term decisions and communicate market sensitive weather information in a fast-paced environment
• Strong computer skills required. Advanced knowledge required. Advanced knowledge of programming languages and/or statistical packages is a strong plus.
