The meteorology group in Uppsala, Sweden, is a part of the Program for Air, Water and Landscape Sciences, where research is conducted within meteorology, hydrology, environmental analysis, physical geography and glaciology. Meteorological research in Uppsala is mainly focused on studies of physical processes in the atmospheric boundary layer, which is the lowest few hundred meters or, at most, the first few kilometres, of the atmosphere. Uppsala University, Sweden, hereby declares the following position to be open for applications Chair in Boundary Layer Meteorologyat the Department of Earth Sciences. We use here a wide definition of boundary layer meteorology including chemical and physical processes within the boundary layer as well as processes determining the evolution of the boundary layer. Research on climate influences on boundary layer processes and on the impact of boundary layer processes on the climate is also relevant. A research profile including components of relevance for other activities in the Department's and Faculty's research profile is desirable, e.g. studies of relevance for research on how the climate influences water resources and glaciers. Nature of duties: General responsibility for research and research education in meteorology. Teaching and supervision within postgraduate and undergraduate education. Research in the applicant's chosen field. Supplying information about research and development in the research field. Planning research projects. Participation in leadership and administrative roles may be relevant. Cooperation with other research units within the Department of Earth Sciences is important. Application deadline: 30 May 2008.
