The Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy of the University of Vienna announces the position of a Visiting Professor of Theoretical MeteorologyThis full-time position under private law is expected to start on March 1st, 2012. This is a limited-term position for the duration of up to 2.5 years. Shorter employment periods will also be considered with a minimum of one semester. Candidates are encouraged to apply for their preferred term of employment. Preference will be given to candidates applying for longer terms. The University of Vienna intends to increase the number of women on its faculty, particularly in high-level positions, and therefore specifically invites applications by women. Among equally qualified applicants women will receive preferential consideration. The successful candidate is expected to initiate and lead basic research programs in the field of theoretical (dynamic) meteorology and atmospheric modeling, continuing and extending the research activities of the current Professor and her group (http://img.univie.ac.at/en/research/theoretical-meteorology/). She/he should be willing to actively cooperate within the framework of the central scientific themes of the Faculty and to initiate and run research projects supported by national and international agencies. Furthermore, a successful candidate is also expected to teach theoretical (dynamic) meteorology and atmospheric modeling courses within the pertinent bachelor, diploma, master and doctoral programs and to be actively involved in research training at the doctoral level.
