At the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy of the University of Vienna the position of a
University Professor of General Meteorology
(full time, permanent position) is to be filled.
The Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy researches on the sustainability of the planet Earth and as part of its strategic plan is making a strong investment in the field of Meteorology.
The advertised professorship will cover the subject of General Meteorology. A second professorship (on Theoretical Meteorology) is advertised at the same time. A third professorship is currently planned.
Applicants for the professorship General Meteorology shall be internationally recognized for their excellence in research and teaching. We expect a convincing research concept in the field of General Meteorology, and an active involvement in teaching in all phases of studies (bachelor's, master's, doctoral level) within the field of Meteorology.
Successful candidates should have the following qualifications:
The University of Vienna expects the successful candidate to acquire, within three years, proficiency in German sufficient for teaching in bachelor's programmes and for participation in university committees. In addition, the University of Vienna expects the successful candidate to be prepared to take over responsibility on the organisational level of the Faculty and the University, if necessary.
