Data Quality Scientist

JBA Risk Management looking for a talented individual to join our team of flood risk scientists, using their analytical, numerical and scientific skills to support the delivery of the highest quality catastrophe risk data possible.
We are better known amongst our clients as The Flood People. We help the insurance, reinsurance and property industries understand flood risk. Our flood maps, catastrophe models and data are used by some of the world's leading organisations. We're experts in translating complex, scientific data into useful information, using sophisticated hydraulic approaches and models to provide cutting-edge flood risk intelligence.
The role will focus on our flood risk management products and acceptance testing of software developed by our in-house development teams. There will be an aspect of cross-training/skill-sharing to build capacity within a small quality-oriented team.
You will need a numerate first degree and be interested in data analysis or software testing. Domain specific experience is less important than evidence of strong analytical capabilities and the ability to learn.
You will be comfortable manipulating spatial data and understand the importance of precision, accuracy and correctness. You don't need to be a software developer, but your skills in this area will exceed those of the regular computer user and you'll be unafraid of code.
You will also need to be able to work with a variety of people with differing knowledge and backgrounds, be flexible in response to changing priorities, and not be intimidated by novel concepts.
