The Center for Applied Geoscience at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen is looking for a

Researcher (TV-L E13)


to support the D-SITE working group (Decision-Support Integrating Technology and Economics). The group develops scientific software for the assessment and optimisation of remediation technologies and brownfields revitalisation strategies incl. models for contaminant migration and risk exposure.

Job description
  • Application and Analysis of Scientific Software
  • Conceptual Software Design
  • Scientific Programming (e.g. FORTRAN, Matlab)
  • GUI Programming (e.g. VisualBASIC, PyQt)
  • Software and Webpage Implementation and Maintenance
  • Documentation and Publications
Requirements
  • Completed master or diploma study in a relevant discipline (natural or engineering science)
  • Interest in development and implementation of methods to solve complex interdisciplinary tasks
  • Sound knowledge and experience in at least two of the following fields: GIS development (Grass, ESRI ArcObjects), GUI development (VisualBASIC, Python/Qt), map server, web applications (XHTML, Java, Javascript), scientific programming (FORTRAN, Matlab, R, etc.)
  • Good communication skills and strong capacity for teamwork
  • Experience and firm handling of standard desktop software
  • Knowledge in some of the following fields will be considered an asset: mathematical mod-elling, hydrogeology, hydrogeochemistry, environmental impact analysis.
The duration of the offered position is limited to 2 years, an extension is intended. The position shall be filled as soon as possible.
