Renewable Energy Engineer
Oxford, Leeds or Birmingham, UK
Salary: £30 - 38K+
Vacancy Details
We have worked closely with this large Consultancy for some
years now and find the people who work there to be very friendly and those who
we place have commented that it is a great place to work because the
consultancy seems like a small business. This friendly atmosphere seems to be
due, in part, to the fact that the business is structured in such a way that
there are a number of small offices located throughout the UK and Europe
rather than one big national office.
As part of their recruitment drive for 2008 they are
looking to appoint a Renewable Energy Engineer to undertake a range of power
generation projects including wind, CHP and other renewable technologies such
as solar and ground source heat.
The main focus of the role is to carry out feasibility
studies for the possible introduction of new power generation/renewable
equipment. You will also need to have an understanding of planning and
environmental issues associated with renewable plant. Experience in the use of
wind project analysis software such as Wind farm, WAsP is required, which
includes wind resource and energy yield assessment.
You will also help to maintain a list of potential
investments and prioritise identified investment opportunities together with
managing investment projects with effective control of project costs,
resources and delivery timescales. Also, identifying potential clients,
discussing needs and preparing bid documents.
The ideal candidate will have achieved an MSc in Renewables
or an Energy or Environmental related field and have a keen interest in and
detailed knowledge of energy markets and related environmental legislation. A
strong interest in renewable technologies is a given!
This role will also involve visits to client sites and
involvement on projects where security clearance to SC level is required. If
you are not already cleared to SC level, you will need to meet certain
criteria to attain this.
A valid UK driving license is essential.
Besides the excellent working environment the Consultancy
provides a substantial benefits and training package. They must be doing
something right as they appear to have one of the lowest attrition rates in
the industry.
