Senior Acoustics Consultant
Southampton, Croydon,
Bristol, Cardiff, UK
Salary: £30 - 35K+
Vacancy Details
I hope you enjoy working for our client as much as we do.
Having worked with them since 2005, they are a great company to deal with.
Even though they are one of the largest providers of environmental and
engineering services in Europe, each office is run like a small business and
this definitely reflects in the way people interact with each other and the
way they approach their project work. This natural and friendly approach is
definitely one of the reasons for their success. Well enough of my ramblings
and so on to the requirements for this role. I have put these down in a formal
way as l think it reflects our client’s work ethic, friendly, professional and
detailed.
Our client is looking for an enthusiastic individual to
introduce acoustics/noise skills by building upon the existing related
disciplines and sources of noise work already established. Initially you will
receive support and will be working directly with the established 10 people
strong acoustic teams in the Leicester or Leeds offices, however the aim of
the position will be to grow the noise skills locally. The majority of
projects will be development related, both environmental noise (PPG24, BS4142,
DMRB, WebTAG) and building acoustics (BB93, BuildReg-ADE, BREEAM) The role
will initially include all aspects of these projects such as monitoring,
modelling, assessment, design, financial accountability and project management
with the possibility of some technical support for monitoring.
The successful candidate must have the ability to undertake
the majority of the above types of projects including the use of equipment,
models and report writing.
Organisational and motivation skills will be imperative to
enable you to work effectively and efficiently remotely from the rest of the
team. Excellent communication skills are required, both written and verbal,
together with the ability to network with both clients and colleagues.
A minimum membership of Associate Member of the Institute
of Acoustics is required.
You will need to have flexibility in being able to meet the
demands of acoustic consultancy. Due to the nature of the work, this may
require working evenings, weekends or bank holidays from time to time and
working away from home.
As you would expect you will have proven relevant
experience in undertaking the majority of the above types of projects together
with a keen understanding of the UK planning system and an ability to
successfully liaise between the client’s needs and local authority or
regulatory authorities. Additional successful experience in an environmental
consultancy or as an expert witness would be a distinct advantage. Similarly,
experience in related disciplines such as vibration, air quality or light
assessment would also be advantageous.
As l previously mentioned our client offers a friendly and
relaxed working environment. A competitive salary is available, which includes
a pension and life assurance scheme together with a range of
benefits/incentives. An on going training program is available for your future
professional development.
