Post Doctoral Opportunities in Ecology
A position as Project Officer is available within the Biodiversity Research Group based at the Environmental Research Institute, University College Cork, Ireland.
Projects and DIVERSITAS Ireland officer required.
We are seeking a projects officer for the Biodiversity thematic research area within the Environmental Research Insitute (ERI) at University College Cork, Ireland. The post is funded for two years under the Programme for Research in Third Level Institutes. The projects officer will be responsible for the developing and coordinating national and international funding initiatives within the ERI and cognate schools and departments. In this role the successful applicant will also contribute to the development of a National Graduate Programme in the Environmental Sciences being developed State wide in collaboration with partners at National University of Ireland, Galway, Trinity College Dublin, and the University of Limerick amongst others.
The applicant will also be responsible for DIVERSITAS activities in Ireland and will staff an international DIVERSITAS desk within the ERI. In this role the successful applicant will be responsible for the organisation of national DIVERSITAS committee meetings, and national and international biodiversity science related events. The applicant will also input into the National Platform for Biodiversity research and will be expected to liaise closely with the Environmental Protection Agency and National Parks and Wildlife Service in Ireland.
Ideally, applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in the organisation of meetings and events would be beneficial. Evidence of project writing and management is essential. Salary: €39k per annum.
