As one of two countryside and ecology officers, within the Natural Environment Section, you will join an established and enthusiastic team of specialists caring for Essex's natural environment.

You will work in a service group that advises on landscape design, ecology, environmental strategy, running the country parks, as well as leading on waste management and recycling.

Your duties will include carrying out site assessment, responding to planning consultations, representing the Council's biodiversity/ecology interests both internally and with external partners, and advising all council service groups and the public.

You will need to be self motivated and have excellent organisational skills, be customer/client focused, IT literate and have good oral and written communication skills.

You will be educated to degree-level in a natural science subject, with a significant ecology/biodiversity component or equivalent.

The duties of this job require you to travel throughout an operational area, therefore a valid driving licence and use of a car is required, unless the role can be undertaken effectively by other alternative transport arrangements.
