Within the framework of the research training group in the field of Plant Ecology, Soil Zoology, Forest Hydrology, Entomology,
Mycorrhiza research, Soil Science, Ecological Modelling,
Remote Sensing, and Environmental Economics The collaborative, interdisciplinary research project is focussed on mechanisms influencing the role of tree species diversity in broadleaved deciduous forests for productivity, carbon sequestration, nutrient and water turnover and biotic interactions as well as for ecosystem services. Fieldwork will take place in forests with up to 15 tree species in the Hainich National Park, Thuringia, Germany. Grants will amount to 1,100 € net per month (+ family allowances) for 3 years. The 12 subprojects provide opportunities for the use of modern ecological techniques and are accompanied by an advanced methodological course program.
