W3 Professorship for Landscape Ecology and Landscape Planning

as of October 1st, 2018

Reference is made to § 61 section 7 Hessisches Hochschulgesetz (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected. The successful candidate will represent the faculty in teaching and research as follows:

Teaching has to be carried out predominantly in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs of the specific subjects Landscape, Vegetation, and Restoration Ecology, Landscape Analysis with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Landscape Planning and Landscape Development. It is expected that the lectures will be offered in English as needed. Participation in the further development of study programs is requested.

The professorship is integrated in the scientific concept of the Research Centre for Biosystems, Land Use and Nutrition (iFZ). It is expected, that the research is principle-based on the natural science sector with a focus on the analysis and modeling of phytodiversity patterns at the landscape scale, which should be documented in prominent publications on these subjects. Experiences in experimental grassland research are requested. An engagement in the Centre for international Development and Environmental Research (ZEU) is recommended and requested.

Experience in raising third-party funds and in carrying out research projects is a prerequisite. An engagement in the Centre for international Development and Environmental Research (ZEU) is recommended and requested. Furthermore, readiness is expected to work interdisciplinary within the faculty and the research departments of the university as well as with non-university research facilities. International networking is also expected.
