The project aims at investigations of paleo-hurricane activities based on geochemical (stable isotopes, trace elements) signatures of microfossil (ostracodes) remains. The integration of ecological and morphological data of modern ostracodes in combination with seasonal changes in hydrochemistry will be used to calibrate δ18O and δ13C values of calcareous ostracode valves.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of topics, including microfossil preparation, stable isotope measurements, data management and interpretation, and assistance during field work.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a strong and proven interest in (palaeo)biology, geochemistry (i.e., stable isotopes), hydrochemistry, and freshwater ecosystems. The candidate should have an MSc degree (or equivalent) in ecology, biology or closely related field.
