Our firm specifically focuses on ecology and providing specialized and expert biology-based information to our clients. We are looking for an energetic, career-minded scientist with a focus in plant ecology to join us on a full-time basis in our Los Gatos office. The opening is for an entry-level plant biologist/ plant ecologist to conduct field studies, including but not limited to, plant community mapping, rare plant surveys, wetland assessments and delineations, identification of restoration opportunities, and mitigation land surveys. A qualified candidate for this position will also prepare a variety of reports/technical studies including environmental impact analyses, resource agency permits, and natural resource management plans. Our firm works on a wide variety of projects for private and public clients that vary in size from a few acres to several thousand acres, with purposes including alternative energy development, infrastructure and transportation projects, public works, and conservation bank planning. The broad spectrum of work sites can span from urbanized locations around the San Francisco Bay area to the remote wildlands of the Mojave Desert. This is an entry-level position in that no prior consulting experience is required; however, we are seeking highly qualified individuals with a solid graduate research background that are motivated to develop career skills and advance within the company. Desired qualifications include a degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in plant ecology, plant biology, or more general ecology, restoration, or biology-based degrees with an emphasis in plant, rangeland, wetland, or forest ecology. Complementary coursework or experience in soil science, community ecology, rangeland science, forestry, marsh ecology, and/or wildlife ecology will be useful and appreciated. Experience in plant identification, quantitative field surveys, plant community/association mapping, statistical analysis, environmental impact analysis, permit preparation, GPS-based field data capture, and GIS-based mapping is a real plus.
