Will you help us save the wild flowers of Wales? We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual to help deliver a new wild plant and fungi farmland conservation project in Wales.
Plantlife is the UK's leading charity working to conserve plants and fungi in the wild. We are a partner in an exciting new conservation project to monitor the state of rare plants and fungi on farms in agri-environment schemes in Wales. The aim of this project is to provide the proof needed to ensure such schemes are delivering real benefits for farmland wildlife.
As Plantlife's Farmland Project Officer, you will lead delivery of our contribution to this important project, liasing with the partner organisations and monitoring arable and heathland plants and waxcap fungi on farms across Wales.
Your role will include:
- Designing an appropriate and scientifically robust monitoring methodology and schedule for the plants and fungi within the project.
- Liasing with farmers and landowners to get support and access to farmland.
- Co-ordinating volunteers and specialist contractors to collect data as well as doing your own fieldwork.
- Collecting and collating plant population data, analysing the results and reporting on the outcomes.
- Collaborating closely with the other wildlife ngos who are our project partners.
This will be an interesting, varied and challenging post, calling for experience in field botany, project management and volunteer engagement. It offers a superb opportunity to work with a range of partners in an important research project in support of national wild plant conservation objectives.
