Catchment Project AssistantRef: EN12/02 Can you make a difference to catchment management in the Shropshire Hills? The River Clun is designated as a European Special Area of Conservation for its population of Freshwater Pearl Mussels, which are in a critical decline. Partners in the Shropshire Hills are working to improve habitat management and water quality throughout the Clun catchment to try to reverse this decline. As Catchment Project Assistant for the Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership, you will support the River Valleys Officer to deliver defined project outputs, especially drawing up and seeing through practical works such as riparian tree management and fencing. You will also support broader work of the project including community engagement and events. We are looking for someone with a good knowledge of freshwater ecology, and experience of practical habitat management and of dealing with farmers and landowners. Experience of overseeing and managing contractors would be beneficial. You will be aware of regulatory frameworks in the water environment and agri-environment schemes, and will be able to demonstrate good communication and inter-personal skills.
