Ecologist



Function: Ecology including surveying, reporting, and mitigation mainly for development projects
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £19,000 - £30000 + benefits package Dependant on experience and qualification/ licences
Offices Based in: Essex
Work Area: National - mainly south and east of England and Midlands
Deadline: 6th Feb 2012

As a minimum must have:

  • At least 3 years Environmental consultancy experience, sound technical knowledge and aproven track record of project management and successful client account management or similar.
  • Hold at least 2 protected species licence (Bat and GCN preferable) and have extensive surveying experience, including Phase 1, protected species surveys and also Environmental Impact Assessment.
  • In-depth knowledge of protected species surveys
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Local Authority Experience in an position relating to ecology would be preferred

As a minimum must be able to:

  • Carry out Ecological surveys (Phase 1 Habitat and protected species)
  • Produce reports, management plans, protected species mitigation strategies for planning projects or management of projects
  • Complete comprehensive field surveys
  • Represent the company in all matters relating to Ecology for TMA clients, client team members, always providing pragmatic and cost effective solutions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant wildlife legislation and planning requirements
  • Demonstrate experience in managing projects including financial management, producing fee proposals, and tendering for work

Qualifications/Memberships:

  • Ecology Degree
  • IEEM membership
  • Extra curricula activities relating to ecology, lecturing and publications would be a plus

Other Requirements:

  • Must be physically fit and be willing and able to able to work in all weather conditions necessary to carry out collection of data.
  • A full UK driving license .
  • Be prepared to work throughout the UK as required and potentially outside the UK depending on contracts available at the time.
