Lecturer in sustainability

The School of Sustainability at Arizona State University invites applications for a Lecturer position to support the growth of an innovative interdisciplinary undergraduate major in sustainability

Applicants must be committed to building a program in sustainability. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching four courses per semester, including sections of SOS 110 (Sustainable World) and SOS 111 (Sustainable Cities), as well as involvement in our internship program, and teaching 300-level core courses relevant to their training. Successful candidates must have an earned doctorate at the time of appointment in a physical, life or social science or engineering with specialization relevant to the teaching of sustainability at the community college or university level. They also must have a minimum of two years of teaching or teaching assistant experience at the college level, and the ability to supervise and mentor teaching assistants.

Special emphasis will be placed on candidates with previous experience in non-traditional models of instruction (i.e. collaborative learning and guided inquiry) and working effectively in an interdisciplinary setting.

The initial appointment is for a 9-month academic year. After this initial appointment, a renewable, multi-year appointment will be considered for a candidate who demonstrates exceptional contributions to the program. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position. Salary is commensurate with experience and the position is benefits-eligible.
