Environmental Scientist National Role

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • First and/or second degree in an environmental discipline
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in environmental assessment
  • Evidence of previous experience in leading or co-ordinating SEA or EIA
  • Evidence of CPD in environmental assessment (EIA and/or SEA) with, or working towards, membership of a relevant environmental institution or chartership (IEMA or equivalent)
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised at times and to network with a 'virtual' team of environmental specialists across other offices
  • Able to travel (driving licence essential) and undertake field work safely

Responsibilities:

The key purpose of the role is to provide environmental assessment and planning / permitting expertise to engineering infrastructure projects. The role would support the appraisal, design and delivery of infrastructure projects in the water sector across England, primarily flood and coastal risk management but also potentially water supply and sewerage infrastructure, road infrastructure and others. These services will be across a range of projects for a range of clients, but based on the current portfolio of work it is expected that this will principally for the Environment Agency and United Utilities.
