Water Resources/Earth SciencesThe Asian University for Women (AUW) invites applications for one faculty position in Water Resources/Earth Sciences in the Division of Physical and Environmental Sciences to begin from the Academic Year 2012-2013 starting from August 2012. We seek an outstanding candidate with teaching and research interests in combination of climatology, water resources, natural disasters such as flood, drought, tsunami, cyclone, avalanche, and geology particularly structural geology, hydrogeology and geomorphology. The applicants should hold a PhD in Water Resources, Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, or closely related area, a substantial record of excellence in teaching and research, and scholarly publications in referred journals. The ability to teach some interdisciplinary or specialized courses such as climatic change, environmental pollution, land degradation, mountain environment, or coastal process will be an added advantage. The successful candidate will teach a combination of courses to undergraduate students majoring Environmental Sciences. The undergraduate students majoring in different science or non-science areas are also expected to take some courses relevant to them as an elective course. AUW offers an innovative liberal arts and science program in a number of majors to young talented women students drawn from different Asian countries. The university is located in the port city of Chittagong, Bangladesh and is an institution of repute with an international faculty and student body. The 4-year undergraduate programs in science majors lead to a B.S. degree. The currently ongoing science majors at the undergraduate level are Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Public Health Studies, and Computer Science. A typical teaching load is two courses per semester. The position is based on one or two year renewable contracts.
