Within the Environment, Energy and Resources Sector, CSIRO Land and Water is delivering the knowledge and innovation needed to underpin the sustainable management of our land, water, ecosystems, biodiversity and cities. Through an integrated systems research approach, we provide the information and technologies required by government, industry and the Australian and international communities to protect, restore, and manage natural and built environments.

During the past 12 months Land & Water (L&W) has undertaken a change program to revise the L&W Strategy and reconsider the structure required to support that strategy. We now have the unique opportunity to market collectively our four Research Director roles for each of our newly formed Programs:

Living Landscapes - delivers environmental management solutions research, development and applications internationally and in Australia toward a vision of ecological sustainability where biodiversity persists, and ecosystems retain their capacity to meet the needs of future generations.

Water Security - provides trusted technological solutions to share and secure water for people, industry and water-dependent ecosystems, and support adaptation into the future.

Sustainability Pathways - explores pathways toward a sustainable relationship between people and nature in a world with accelerated and disruptive change creating new risks and uncertainties, applying a more deliberate future focus, adaptive learning, and greater engagement with diverse values, sectors, and sciences.

Industry Environments - delivers environmental management and biotechnology solutions to ensure industry sustainability, clean productive futures, reduced environmental legacy, effective mitigation strategies and protection of human health and the environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a newly forming Leadership Team to drive the activities that will deliver our strategy over the next 3 years.

Location: The preferred locations for these roles are Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth preferred, however other locations considered
Salary: an attractive salary plus up to 15.4% superannuation will be negotiated with the successful candidates.
Tenure: 3 years

Eligibility

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and provide a National Police Check or equivalent.
