We carry out the vital work of enforcing the environmental and decommissioning regulatory regime, covering everything from offshore oil and gas to carbon dioxide storage.

We're here to make sure that offshore energy activities are safe, properly assessed and as environmentally friendly as possible. We have big plans for the coming years, and, if you share our ambition, we want you to take part.

About your role

You'll develop our domestic legislation and policies, in turn making sure that offshore energy activities don't adversely affect the sea and wider environment. You'll work with a wide range of partners including other government departments, public bodies and devolved administrations, covering a variety of policy areas and keeping us in line with UK environmental policy.

Joining our Environment Management Team, you'll also line manage our junior environmental specialists, advise operators on policy matters, manage research activities and liaise with industry representatives.

About your experience

We're looking for candidates with experience in reviewing the outcomes of policies and initiatives. You'll also have an in-depth knowledge of offshore energy activities as well as the marine environment, climate change and atmospheric emissions. You should have experience in leading teams and be able to lead on assessing the environmental impact of offshore energy activities.

You'll also need a degree or the equivalent experience in a relevant field such as climate and atmospheric science, environmental science or environmental management.
