Environmental Monitoring Assistant
Location: Wallingford, Oxfordshire
We are looking for an Environmental Monitoring Officer based in the Analysis and Reporting Team. The successful applicant will assist in the delivery of our environmental monitoring and investigation programmes. The role will be laboratory based carrying out invertebrate identification and analysis, but the applicant will also be expected to undertake some field work. The post is currently fixed term but has the potential to be extended or become permanent.
The team comprises officers skilled in monitoring field-work, plant and invertebrate ID and data analysis. The team assesses these monitoring data, turning it into evidence to inform the wider business, underpinning environmental improvements largely through our work with the Water Framework Directive.
We are seeking candidates with practical experience and knowledge in freshwater ecology. Taxonomic skills in the sorting and identification of freshwater invertebrate samples is highly desirable as is the ability to analyse ecological dataset. Wider knowledge of water chemistry would also be desirable. Other requirements include good communication skills, ability to problem solve, a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
The role is based at Red Kite House, Wallingford, Oxfordshire. The post requires a full driving licence.
