Senior Policy Analyst
EU Sustainable Land Use Policy
Agriculture and Rural Development Team
The Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) is an independent and influential policy studies Institute working on a wide range of environment, climate and agriculture related issues. Our offices are based in London and Brussels.
IEEP has a vacancy for a full time Senior Policy Analyst to undertake policy research and analysis on issues related to EU sustainable land use policy, as a member of the Institute's agriculture and rural development team. This will be a stimulating and interesting job. The policy research work will involve leading, managing and contributing to a wide variety of topical and influential projects concerned with the development, implementation and evaluation of EU policies influencing sustainable land use. It will also involve the management and future development of our CAP2020 website, which provides a platform for debate and analysis on the future of the CAP. The scope of the work is broad, covering key environmental issues and is of a strategic nature. Current key areas of work include work on the future direction of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the funding priorities of the forthcoming EU Budget, and in particular, we are focusing on ways in which farming and forestry can help to protect Europe's biodiversity and contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts.
The post will be based at IEEP's office in London, although consideration will be given to basing this post in Brussels, if the appointee has a strong preference. We are looking for an experienced person with a good track record of working within the environmental and agricultural policy sphere, with strong policy research and analysis abilities, and a keen interest in EU and sustainable land use issues. You will need at least five years of professional experience in a relevant field and be able to demonstrate excellent project management and communication skills, in particular, excellent written and spoken English.
