Environmental Development Manager

Lighthouse Caledonia is a fully-integrated seafood company and a leading supplier of high quality Scottish Salmon. Lighthouse Caledonia take pride in the sustainability and environmentally sensitive way in which they farm fish, and in their excellent relationships with stakeholders, particularly with the owners of wild salmon, sea trout fisheries and district fishery boards.

To align themselves with new government legislation and compliance requirements to the continuation of fish farming by site and future development of both new and existing sites, through active consultation with all relevant stakeholders, Lighthouse Caledonia require an experienced and credible Environmental Development Manager. This will fortify existing relationships with local and national government and maintain the company's legislative compliance for the continuation of fish farming upon existing and new site development.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and administer the transfer of all marine farm sites currently holding Crown Estate seabed leases to local authority planning controls.
  • Synchronise planning applications and planning review arising from the Lighthouse Caledonia site development plan.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with local authority, statutory consultees, local government and the Crown Estate to ensure the approval of legislative requirements of fish farming and site usage.
  • Ensure all sites comply with legislative and compliance rules as set out by the new policy and certify that the company fulfils any obligations under the area management or national agreements.
  • Continually progress site optimisation and development issues arising through the planning review and identify those areas that will require additional information.
  • Produce high standard reports and production of information required to make applications for continuance of fish farming or new fish farming sites, including licences.
  • Guarantee that the accumulation and analysis of information relating to environmental aspects and impacts from the company's fish farming activities can be accessed and utilised by external agencies.
  • Continually progress site optimisation through AutoDepomod modeling and site assessment from benthic sampling regime.

It is essential that for this role you are Degree educated in an Environmental or Engineering Science field combined with a deep specialisation and knowledge of government legislation. Ideally you will have a further understanding of the aquaculture industry with a thorough idea of how to transfer licences to local authority in this field. Additionally you will be trained in IS014001 in Environmental Management Systems to assist with the further development of this for the whole company.

With a high volume of processing and development sites throughout Scotland, this role will initially involve frequent travel to and from other sites so it is important that you hold a current clean driving licence.

Please note you will receive an automated response advising you that we have received your CV.
