About the Faculty of Science and Technology
The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at Mount Royal University (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2019, subject to final budgetary approval. The Earth and Environmental Sciences department, within the Faculty of Science and Technology, supports three disciplines: Environmental Science, Geography, and Geology.

About the Role
The successful candidate will have a focus in environmental geoscience with specific research interests in Earth Systems Science (e.g., hydrogeology, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, landslides, low temperature geochemistry, stable and radiogenic isotope chemistry, cosmogenic nuclides, paleoclimatology, and/or paleoenvironments) and the production, availability, and potential depletion of natural resources (e.g., soil, water, mineral, and energy).
The candidate must demonstrate excellence, or clear promise of excellence, in teaching in both lecture and laboratory settings. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver several courses per term at both the first-year and senior levels as part of the regular teaching load that contributes to our existing offerings in environmental science and geology as well as develop new courses commensurate with their expertise.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong, student-focused research program, and create a strong external research network. The ability to attract external funding, or clear promise thereof, is desirable, and candidates will be assessed on their potential to maintain an on-going research program, suitable to a Mount Royal University context.
Candidates will hold a Ph.D., have or be eligible to apply for Professional Geoscientist designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, and demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate teaching and the development of a sustainable program of research.
