Environmental Project Leader

Salary circa £29-39k plus benefits, depending on skills and experience

This role requires management of a portfolio of projects for Defra, the Environment Agency and other bodies. Whilst you will be part of a Project Office, you will need to work closely with the Environmental Measurements Group who deliver the technical capability to these clients.
Ideal candidates will have experience of working in a technical environment and of managing to plans and budgets. A Project Management qualification and experience delivering to Defra in the area of air quality measurements, modelling or policy advice would be an advantage, as would a background in environmental science or relevant technical discipline. You will be happy to apply project management practice where you are not the main expert, and your influencing skills will ensure projects deliver to time and cost. You will be comfortable in a customer facing role and recognise the value in keeping clients informed.
Environmental Measurements Group
The EM Group delivers applied research associated with measurement of air quality and emissions. Airborne emissions and ambient air sampling and analysis services are accredited to ISO 17025. The team delivers remote sensing of gaseous emissions worldwide, using DIAL (Differential Absorption Lidar) and also offers advice and measurements for Greenhouse Gas Reporting. We are entrusted by Defra, the Environment Agency and the National Environment Research Council (NERC) to lead UK monitoring networks, and for the provision of traceable measurements for climate change models.
